HP Enterprise / Managed printers (FutureSmart)
Source read: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_13623350-13600809-16 ("HP FutureSmart - Set up Scan to Email with OAuth 2.0 and a Microsoft account") [V]
What HP says [V]
- Applies to HP Enterprise and HP Managed printers running FutureSmart firmware 5.7 and newer.
- Embedded Web Server (EWS): Scan/Digital Send > Email Setup. Outgoing server
smtp.office365.com, port 25 or 587 (587 required with SMTP SSL), enable SMTP SSL/TLS and "Validate certificates", "Server requires authentication" = OAuth 2.0, user name = the same address as Default From.
- Sign-in uses a device code: "Get code", then enter it at
https://microsoft.com/devicelogin with the mailbox account.
- HP says: "Per Microsoft requirements, the configuration for Outgoing Email Servers (SMTP) will expire at regular intervals for security. When this happens, it will need to be configured again." Put a recurring reminder in your calendar and know who does it.
- If the test fails, check Authenticated SMTP is enabled for that mailbox (Microsoft 365 admin center > Users > Active users > Mail > Manage email apps).
What we could not verify
- HP LaserJet Pro / other consumer-line models: the page above covers only Enterprise/Managed FutureSmart 5.7+. We did not open an HP statement for LaserJet Pro [unverified]. Use the generic guide's decision table.
- How often the sign-in expires (HP gives no interval).
- Behaviour on firmware older than 5.7: upgrade first or use relay/HVE.
